Four Pinocchios for WaPo fact-checker’s bad presidential math

March 2, 2021

By Don Irvine

The Washington Post’s fact-checker got a dose of his own medicine after tweeting about former President Donald Trump’s complaints about school reopenings.

The tweet, which was issued on February 28, brought a storm of corrections, with Twitter users noting that Joe Biden has been president for more than a month — actually, 39 days, as of Kessler’s tweet.

Kessler was apparently too enraged by Trump’s CPAC speech to do the necessary math, while at the same time ignoring Biden’s shifting stance on school reopenings.  Maybe he could fact-check that instead.

For this error, he is awarded Four Pinocchios.
