CNN continues trashing Ron DeSantis, covers for Andrew Cuomo
March 3, 2021
Both Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo have been under fire by CNN recently, one so more than the other. The answer as to which governor was more criticized by the network may or may not surprise you.
The New York State Office of the Attorney General released a report revealing discrepancies in deaths reported by the Department of Health.
“Government guidance requiring the admission of COVID-19 patients into nursing homes may have put residents at increased risk of harm in some facilities and may have obscured the data available to assess that risk,” the report said.
Accuracy in Media has called out CNN explicitly on multiple occasions for its biased reporting during the nursing home scandal, including the likely reason behind the lack of coverage.
“But CNN’s conflict of interest with Andrew Cuomo extends even further than that. The network’s president, Jeff Zucker, recently announced that he would be stepping down. One of the top candidates to replace him is Allison Gollust, who served as Andrew Cuomo’s director of communications for a few months before joining CNN back in 2013.”
Now, the older Cuomo brother faces sexual misconduct allegations, and CNN continues bland coverage of the governor.
CNN has not faltered in coverage when they accuse Florida Governor Desantis of racism and favoritism for setting up vaccine sites in upscale communities. Scathing reports from residents and officials were placed throughout the hit pieces such as,
The whole thing smacked to me of politics, favoritism, elitism and racism,” Ken Schultz, a Manatee County resident, told CNN.
They included a comment from Democrat Congressman Charlie Cist, “If you’re Hispanic or Black or (a) brown person, you’re not getting these pop-up vaccines that the governor is giving to people that are in more affluent, more White and more Republican parts of Florida.”
Desantis denied these claims noting that the “upscale neighborhoods” aligned with the vaccination plans as they contained a high volume of senior citizens.
Rhetoric such as this was absent from the pieces reporting on Cuomo’s deeds.
