HuffPost criticizes Fox’s Peter Doocy for ‘asking hard-hitting questions’
October 22, 2021
During a recent White House press conference, Press Secretary Jen Psaki and Fox’s Peter Doocy had a tense exchange when Doocy asked her to comment on the large number of military and police personnel across the country that are quitting over the Biden administration’s vaccine mandate. HuffPost immediately lauded Psaki for her handling of the situation despite the fact that she was incorrect and criticized Doocy for seeming to “pride himself on asking hard-hitting questions.”
Over the past few months, the media has been rightly slammed for going soft on the Biden administration. They often fail to ask him serious questions (on the rare occasion when they’re able to ask him a question at all) and ignore the fact that Biden has done six-times fewer interviews than Trump had at this point during his presidency. The lack of transparency is worrisome, so for a mainstream news outlet such as HuffPost to criticize a fellow reporter for asking difficult questions of the administration is particularly galling. Shouldn’t every reporter be asking hard-hitting questions?
HuffPost certainly didn’t have a problem with reporters asking hard-hitting questions during the Trump era. They went after former White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany frequently, even going so far as to say it was a “tall order” for her not to tell a lie. Yet now, under Joe Biden, HuffPost has only kind things to say about the Press Secretary, overlooks her failures to tell the truth, and chooses to criticize fellow reporters instead.
Psaki wasn’t even correct in this exchange with Doocy, so for HuffPost to hail her as the victor regardless of the facts is misinformation. Psaki insisted that there were not many police officers leaving due to the vaccine mandates and HuffPost backed her up stating that those claims are unconfirmed and “Many other police departments have reported staffing shortages, but that issue predates vaccine mandates.”
Here are some facts for HuffPost to consider: In Chicago, where crime rates are already skyrocketing, “roughly 35 percent of the city’s 12,770 officers could be placed on no-pay status in the foreseeable future” due to the mandate. A similar situation is happening in Seattle where, according to Seattle Police Officers Guild President Mike Solan, “This mandate will remove over 100 officers as it stands, and that’s unacceptable.”
Crime rates are rising across the country in cities where the police have already been demonized by the media and quit in large numbers in the wake of the George Floyd protests. Now, thousands of officers are leaving because of Joe Biden’s mandates, but HuffPost doesn’t want to talk about any of that. They’re more interested in defending the Biden administration than seeking the truth.
