Deadline Hollywood reveals stunning ignorance about American history

Deadline Hollywood recently announced an upcoming film called J6 that will depict the January 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol. In the article, Deadline described the events of that day as “the worst attack on democracy since the Civil War.”
Does Deadline really know that little about American history, or is it just blatantly lying to its readers?
One does not need to downplay the events of January 6 to understand that it was nowhere near the worst attack on American democracy since the Civil War. Far more egregious assaults on democracy have occurred between 1862 and January 6, 2021. For starters, there was the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, which resulted in the deaths of more than 2,400 people. We’ve also had two World Wars, multiple presidential assassinations, the terror attacks on 9/11 – and these are merely the first few examples that spring to mind.
On January 6, Congress was back in session only hours after the rioters were subdued. Then-Vice President Mike Pence oversaw the certification of an election that put the opposing political party in power. That is an example of a democracy that works well, not one that’s been crippled by a violent insurrection. Hollywood doesn’t care about the truth though, they’re only interested in embellishing and elevating the events of January 6 as a cudgel to wield against their political rivals.
Adam McKay is set to write and produce J6, which is fitting. He’s the man behind other hyperbolic political films that are “inspired” by real-world events, such as Vice and The Comey Rule – both of which had a lukewarm reception by critics and audiences alike. No one seems to be asking for these sorts of films and they rarely pull in much money at the box office.
Hollywood just keeps pumping them out in an effort to feel morally superior rather than make money, which might explain why Annapurna Pictures – the studio behind many preachy and politically divisive films, including some of Adam McKay’s – has been stricken by financial woes over the last few years.
The mainstream media has been hyping the events of January 6 for more than a year now. They practically held a party on the one-year anniversary. J6 is an example of Hollywood doing the exact same thing. Since the Biden administration has been a complete and utter failure, January 6 is the only thing Leftists have to wield against Republicans. So that’s exactly what they’re doing, even if it means lying about American history.
