Newsweek: Ron DeSantis approves bill that prohibits race ‘guilt’ — this is bad
February 14, 2022
In a bizarre article by Newsweek headlined, “Ron DeSantis Pushes Florida Bill to Protect White People From ‘Guilt’ About Racist Past”, they seem to lament the fact that Florida’s governor does not want people to feel guilt because of their skin color.
“For instance, it would prohibit employers from providing training that ‘espouses, promotes, advances, inculcates, or compels’ people to believe they bear ‘responsibility for, or should be discriminated against or receive adverse treatment because of, actions committed in the past by other members of the same race, color, sex, or national origin.’”
In summary, the outlet is outraged that DeSantis would sign a bill stating that people shouldn’t be discriminated against based on the actions of their similarly-colored ancestors.
It is not uncommon for Newsweek to rage over every move DeSantis makes, however, “slamming” him for passing a bill that prohibits racist actions is beyond absurdity.
The author follows up these comments, by attacking the 2021 Critical Race Theory ban from k-12 classrooms, with a common lie pro-CRT activists peddle that, “It’s not taught in public schools.” If this were true, they would likely not be against banning something that allegedly doesn’t exist.
Newsweek has been the subject of various Accuracy in Media investigations since 2000, and it seems they have not taken the two decades of criticism to heart, and continue to produce dishonest pieces of news.
