Vice gives perfect example of hypocrisy

One of the fascinating sights is of a media outlet insisting – nay, demanding – “We’re different!”

This behavior that we’re shouting at someone else for? Well, it might look like we’re about the same. Someone who was being unfair – who hated all that is righteous and just perhaps – could say there’s a similarity here. But no, no, we’re entirely, wholly, completely, different.

Vice gives us a perfect example of this in a piece headlined, “A Proud Boy and Michael Flynn Were Elected to a Republican Executive Committee in Florida.” Well, how about that, then?

One thing to note is that county executive committees are about the lowest level of the political system. So the election is hardly some takeover of the grander democracy. It’s also possible that ex-Generals and (possibly) ex-Proud Boys might rethink and change their views and actions. None of us would want to be judged on everything we’ve ever done in our lives.

But of course, this is then run as how vile extremists are taking control of the Republican Party:

“Much like termites nesting in the walls of a house, members of the Proud Boys and other right-wing extremists are quietly building inroads into local GOP politics in Florida.

The latest example of this trend comes out of Sarasota County, where Proud Boy James Hoel—and conspiracy theorist Michael Flynn—recently landed seats on the Republican executive committee.

Retired general Flynn, who is a key Trump ally, and Hoel were elected by voice vote at an event last week, the Sarasota Herald-Tribune reported.

The county committee decides who will be the party candidate for county dog catcher. This is the purest evidence we need that the termites are undermining democracy.

Vice is a more important media outlet than many think. The website ranks around 71 for news and media in the US, it gains perhaps 34 million visits a month from that position. But the magazine has a distribution of 900,000, the TV channel reaches 60 million American homes via cable. This is a major outlet.

There is though this little part of the article:

(Disclosure: Gavin McInnes, who founded the Proud Boys in 2016, was a co-founder of VICE in 1994. He left the company in 2008 and has had no involvement since then.)

But no, no, that’s entirely different. We’re not associated at all, despite the manner in which we’ve pushed the idea that mild association is being the same as. We were talking about Republicans there, not us! You do understand that, don’t you?

From which we can gain one solid fact. Which is that Gavin McInnes is no longer stained by his association with Vice.

They are targeting our education system, Big Tech, the entertainment industry — every facet of America’s culture.
