Social media influencer spins climate fiction to keep Biden agenda afloat
August 2, 2023
Harry Sisson is a social media influencer with 700,000 followers on TikTok (80 million likes) and 160k on Twitter (as @harryjsisson). He is lying and misleading his followers with stuff like this:
“BREAKING: Philadelphia air just became the city with the WORST air quality in the world. Meanwhile, US power plants are allowed to emit unlimited carbon pollution. It’s literally killing us. But President Biden just proposed a plan to change that…
“If EPA adopts Biden’s proposal, many power plants would have to cut pollution by 90%. HUGE. EPA is taking public comments for 1 more week and is legally required to read every one. Let’s flood them with comments demanding the strongest rules possible.”
First of all, Philadelphia doesn’t even make the list of the 100 cities with poor air quality. Back in June, Philadelphia’s air was a problem, but not because of U.S. power plants, as Sisson says. No, it was caused by the infamous Canadian wildfires. But Harry Sisson blames the power plants.
But Sisson, there’s extra spice to this.
“Philadelphia Electric Company (PECO) is one of the oldest and largest utility companies in the United States and a leading producer of nuclear power. A total of 65% of its power output is generated by its three nuclear power plants compared to 20% for the United States as a whole.”
In terms of both carbon (soot) and also carbon dioxide Philly already has one of the cleanest power generation systems in the country. But Sisson uses it as the poster child for greater regulation. Sisson tells his followers to support President Joe Biden’s plan to further regulate coal-fired power plants.
It is interesting to note that Sisson is managed by Palette Management, which has close ties to and has been paid by the Democratic National Committee for services rendered.
