Emory scholar resigns after report reveals pro-Hamas rhetoric
ATLANTA (TND) — A scholar at Emory University resigned his position at the school this week after an undercover report revealed what the school called “deeply concerning comments” about Hamas terrorists.
Isam Vaid had served as the school’s Muslim Religious Life Scholar in the Emory University Office of Spiritual and Religious Life since 2008. Undercover investigators at V24 Investigations released video this month of their conversations with Vaid illustrating the scholar’s immense support for Hamas.
“Hamas has been a humanitarian organization,” he said in the video. “[Israelis] are not civilians because every single Israeli is obligated to serve in the IDF.”
“Therefore [they] are a military target,” he added.

Adam Guillette, president of watchdog organization Accuracy in Media, demanded accountability from the school by driving a billboard truck around campus which called for Vaid’s dismissal. He told TND the issue represents a greater trend within higher education.
