A University of Pennsylvania faculty member applauded the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

Julia Alekseyeva is an assistant professor of English and Cinema & Media Studies at the university. In a post on her now-deleted TikTok account called “thesoviette,” Alekseyeva wrote, “have never been prouder to be a professor at the University of P3nnsylvania” with “Do You Hear the People Sing?” from Les Misérables playing in the background.

The suspect in Thompson‘s murder is Luigi Mangione, a University of Pennsylvania graduate.

On an Instagram account also going by @thesoviette – which is now private – Alekseyeva reportedly wrote in response to Mangione allegedly being bisexual, “The icon we all need and deserve.”

Alekseyeva also shared a headline on Instagram from the satirical account The Reductress that read, “Man Engages in Beautiful Italian-American Tradition of Taking Matters Into His Own Hands.”

As Accuracy in Media has reported, the University of Pennsylvania has a history of not protecting Jewish students on campus and fostering an antisemitic environment. Now the University of Pennsylvania has a professor calling for a “Bright Socialist Future” on campus praising the cold-blooded murder of a CEO.

Tell UPenn it is unconscionable to have someone who celebrates an assassination on faculty at an Ivy League institution: Visit UPennLovesMurder.com to send a message to their board of trustees.
