AIM confronts Texas school official caught discussing ‘workaround’ to transgender sports ban
February 6, 2025
As a part of a broad investigation into Texas public school officials, Accuracy in Media has sent undercover journalists to numerous school districts to see if administrators would be willing to defy the 2021 Texas law that requires student-athletes to compete as their biological gender in sports.
Just outside of Austin, Hutto Independent School District Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Keyawna Glaze, had shocking things to say to our undercover “parent” of a transgender child.
House Bill 25 specifically requires that athletes compete as their biological sex as noted on their birth certificate. However, other states, like New Jersey, allow for updated documentation after birth. When presented with this scenario, Glaze stated that it could be a “workaround” to the new law. The transgender student would ultimately not be revealed to be transgender at all if this process went through to enrollment, placing other athletes at risk of injury or fear for safety in private spaces.
AIM President Adam Guillette confronted Glaze in person, and Glaze denied ever having advised parents on such topics, despite video evidence proving otherwise. When AIM produced the evidence, Glaze doubled down on her remarks, saying she would do it again and to take it up with legislators.
During the confrontation, Guillette was temporarily detained by an officer on the scene after Glaze’s colleague reported him for trespassing.
Glaze has since resigned from her position at Hutto ISD and has taken a new job. She is not alone in her actions, however.
Other administrators have also caught onto this “loophole,” making it a serious concern for Texas parents. Unfortunately we are not surprised, deceit has run rampant through school districts, ever since the banning of 1619 Project and Critical Race Theory. AIM has caught many officials admitting that they rebrand these ideas in order to avoid parental backlash and law enforcement.
To prevent America’s schools from becoming political battlegrounds for adults to impress their ideas on society, we must fight back. Universal school choice would be an important piece to solving the transgender dilemma, ultimately putting the decision power back in the hands of parents and away from scheming administrators.
