Texas bans trans athletes from certain sports teams. Paxton probing schools for compliance
The Hutto district is one of the latest school districts to be targeted by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton for alleged violations of a 2021 state law that bans students from competing in sports teams that don’t align with their sex assigned at birth.
Paxton announced Monday his office was investigating the Hutto district, in addition to three in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, for “endangering female athletes and trying to undermine girls’ athletics by letting boys compete.”
“The woke school officials should know that there will be consequences for all unlawful activity,” the Republican three-term attorney general said Monday in a news release announcing the investigations.
A few days earlier, Assistant Attorney General Steven Ogle had filed an open records request with the Hutto district asking for documents related to Keyawna Glaze, an administrator who Ogle noted had recently resigned as the district’s director of diversity, equity and inclusion.
