UNC Charlotte cuts ties with assistant director after viral DEI comments

UNC Charlotte has parted ways with Janique Sanders, assistant director of the Leadership & Community Engagement (LCE) office, after a hidden-camera video of her discussing the University bypassing a DEI policy went viral.

The video was originally posted on X on May 28 by Corey A. DeAngelis, a right-wing activist and senior advisor of Accuracy in Media, a right-wing news outlet. DeAngelis’ post has over 4.2 million views on X.

In the video, Sanders states that while the UNC System policy prevents DEI-related work from being conducted on campus, the University has circumvented the policy to continue diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) work and that the University has “covert” DEI positions.
