Local12 Says AIM Ignites Firestorm Over Several Ohio Schools Skirting Bathroom Rules

A nonprofit media group is calling out Ohio school districts, claiming they are breaking the law regarding transgender girls in sports.

The group has previously posted videos of several local school districts, including Reading, Princeton, Norwood, and Three Rivers.

In 2024, Ohio legislators passed a law banning transgender girls from participating in girls’ sports, both on the K-12 and collegiate levels. In these videos from Accuracy in Media (AIM), staff go undercover and ask about the district’s transgender policies.

In October, the group released a video from Dayton Public Schools.

“Would I have to let people on the team know that she is transgender?” the person from AIM said.

“I do not think so,” said Dayton Public Schools employee Mauryce Neal.

This week, they released a video from Eastwood Schools near Toledo.

“I wonder if we just don’t even tell anybody,” said Eastwood Middle School Assistant Principal Jodi Zunk.

President of Accuracy in Media Adam Guillette said they investigate schools in red states all over the country.

“We found in Ohio seem to be some of the worst,” Guillette said.

Local 12 asked why.

“Whether it’s critical race theory bans, bans on boys in girls’ sports, or boys in girls’ locker rooms, the law means nothing to these people,” Guillette said.

In both videos, the woman says she is trying to enroll her transgender sister in the district, and that she wants to play sports. She tells the Eastwood school administrator she has an adopted birth certificate that says she’s a female.

“I’m going to do a little digging, make sure that we’re just legal, yeah, and I think the fewer people that know the better, not that I want to hide anything, but I also don’t think we need to draw undue attention,” Zunk said.
