Ohio school administrator claims parents are ‘jerks’ over transgender sports
January 12, 2026
A school administrator in Ohio got candid about the transgender sports controversy, claiming, “It’s the parents that are jerks.”
Fremont City Schools Assistant to Human Resources Amy Purney told Accuracy in Media’s investigative journalist that “The kids are pretty accepting” of transgender students in girls’ sports.
When AIM’s undercover journalist asked about enrolling a biologically male student and keeping them in sports as a transgender female, Purney said on hidden camera, “Sure, you bet.”
She added that she didn’t think parents needed to be informed about the transgender student’s status.
Purney further encouraged who she believed to be a prospective parent of a transgender female to submit a birth certificate with an altered gender, in addition to the child’s original one.
In 2024, Ohio passed laws banning biological males from female sports in K-12 and college, and requiring students to use facilities — such as bathrooms and locker rooms — that align with their biological sex.
But, as AIM has found through its investigative work on the ground, many school officials throughout Ohio and elsewhere are bending the rules to keep biological males in female sports and private spaces.
Purney and others have made it clear that schools are still prioritizing transgender students and their access to women’s spaces. And parental concerns are surely falling on deaf ears.
