“People are dumb”: Undercover Footage Exposes DEI at UK
February 9, 2026
Accuracy in Media has caught multiple administrators at the University of Kentucky (UK) on hidden camera admitting that DEI initiatives are still active at the university and are being deceptively rebranded to evade state and federal law.
Kentucky is among several red states that have banned DEI in higher education.
Tamra Nowitzki, Department Manager in the Department of Psychology at UK, is shown speaking with an undercover investigator posing as a prospective student. When asked whether Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is still part of the curriculum, Nowitzki confirmed that it is.
“We can’t actually use those words in writing,” she said. “Because, you know, people are dumb… But yeah, we still teach all that.”
Nowitzki also identified faculty members involved in DEI-related work: “We actually have some faculty that work specifically in that area. Dr. Christopher Marshburn, he does a lot in that area. Dr. Angel Armenta does a lot in that area.”
When later confronted in her office and asked to clarify her statements, Nowitzki repeatedly refused to comment.
Accuracy in Media then presented the footage to University of Kentucky officials.
Jay Blanton, UK Vice President of Relations and Chief Communications Officer, denied any violation of state or federal law. “The university is fully compliant with House Bill 4 and all federal policies and procedures and directives in respect to DEI,” he stated on camera.
Blanton also said he was willing to review the undercover video and consider next steps:
“To the extent we hear about anything that might be amiss in respect to that, we will remedy that,” he added. “It is our goal and commitment to be compliant with the law.”
Accuracy in Media expects to release additional undercover footage involving other administrators, revealing what appears to be widespread defiance of state and federal law regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education.
