WRAL Reports NC Administrator Fired After Exposed in AIM Investigation
February 13, 2026
RALEIGH, NC — NC State University fired the assistant director of its LGBTQ+ Pride Center the same day an activist group published a secretly recorded video of the leader explaining how the center is navigating a repeal of the university’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) policy.
The activist group Accuracy in Media (AIM) recorded the video of former assistant director Jae Edwards. AIM describes itself as “a nonprofit using citizen activism and undercover journalism to expose corruption, law-breaking, and public policy failures.”
Edwards was recorded telling an undercover person how the Pride Center is supporting students through a reversal in DEI policy at the system-wide level.
“I think it’s so important, now more than ever, to uplift and celebrate our students,” he said in the video. “We’re still able to do the things that we want to do, have these events and programs, we have to be a little more careful.”
NC State told WRAL News that the university became aware of the video last Thursday. Edwards was terminated shortly after.
In a statement, an NC State spokesperson wrote:
“The individual seen in the video had no role in policy or compliance decisions and was not authorized to speak on behalf of the university. The staff member no longer works at the university. NC State complies with both the spirit and letter of all applicable federal and state laws and UNC System policies, and any violation is taken very seriously.”
