An undercover investigation by Accuracy in Media has revealed a San Antonio Independent School District official advising a prospective parent on how to bypass the “Save Women’s Sports Act,” a Texas law requiring student-athletes to compete on teams that match the gender listed on their birth certificate.
In a new video, San Antonio ISD constituent specialist Arthur Elizondo is seen discussing strategies to work around the law. During the conversation, Elizondo criticized parents, stating, “Parents create all the problems.”
When Accuracy in Media President Adam Guillette later confronted Elizondo about his remarks, the administrator became visibly agitated and shoved Guillette. This isn’t the only time AIM has been met with hostility after demanding accountability.
Accuracy in Media caught an administrator for the Irving Independent School District in Texas coaching a parent on how to get around Texas’ law banning biological boys from participating in girls’ sports, even saying, “It’s not illegal if you don’t get caught.” When confronted by AIM in person, the district employee denied having the conversation.
Reny Lizardo, the Executive Director of Campus Operations for the Irving school district in the suburb of Dallas, told the prospective parent who was inquiring about changing a birth certificate out of state to undermine Texas law, “So if you can get that done, and you turn us a birth certificate that says this gender… That’s the gender we go with.”
Lizardo also told the parent, “It’s not illegal if you don’t get caught, right?” and said that schools can claim “plausible deniability” if it becomes an issue. Then, “Me and you never had this conversation.”
An Accuracy in Media investigation recently revealed an equity officer for the Dallas Independent School District is not only advising parents on how to get around the state’s ban on boys competing in girls’ sports but gloating about how liberal organizations would bail her out of jail if she faced legal repercussions for skirting the law. AIM showed up to the Dallas ISD building with a mobile billboard and questions to confront district officials about their willingness to violate Texas law.
When AIM showed up at the office of Mahoganie Gaston, the LGBT Youth Program coordinator who was caught on video telling the parent how to get around the Texas law, she slammed the door in our faces.
AIM also spoke to Sebastian Saucedo, the Strategic Media Relations Coordinator for Dallas ISD, who attempted to dodge answering questions about what was being shown in our undercover video by demanding an email instead.
Eventually, AIM was escorted out of the building.
Meanwhile, in Richardson Independent School District, Angie Lee, the Executive Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion was caught on undercover camera saying that boys are allowed to room with girls during overnight school trips. AIM confronted Lee and other administrators at the Richardson ISD school building with a mobile billboard parked outside and questions for the district.
On video, Lee told the undercover journalist that biological boys are allowed to stay overnight in rooms with girls, as long as everyone involved allegedly approves.
When confronted, Lee denied she told an undercover AIM journalist that boys could sleep in overnight accommodations with girls, even though she told an AIM journalist on camera that boys have already stayed in rooms with girls.
Lee also refused to answer how the school districts would know with certainty that the parents give permission for their girls to stay overnight with biological boys, especially if custody agreements are involved.
